I beg to differ. So Matthew Reilly is more action based but there are cross over elements in some of his works. <br /><br />Fantasy sells well, as far as I know (Kate Forysth, Emily Rodda) and the biggest cinematic sensations of any given year are generally sci-fi. Yet still this attitude prevails. It seems to be an uniquely Australian snobbery. The US and UK are much more open to it. <br /><br />I believe it's non-sensical and should be embraced more readily by publishers. Young readers of both sexes lap it up, and for many others it's a secret and not so secret pleasure. Anthony J. It was a little intimidating. Especially since my female characters were generic "damsel in distress" types.
